Addressing Statistical Challenges of Modern Technological Advances

We are organising a meeting at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) on “Addressing Statistical Challenges of Modern Technological Advances” that will take place in Edinburgh from 24-28th June 2019. The meeting has been motivated by the many types of data that arise within statistical ecology and particularly over recent years. New technology has lead to new forms of data and large datasets, resulting in challenges for statistical analysis and suggesting new techniques.

The meeting will be a combination of invited talks, contributed talks, posters and discussion with the aim of identifying recent challenges and the development of associated statistical tools to address these challenges. We very much hope and anticipate that the meeting will lead to new collaborations between individuals, in addition to strengthening existing collaborations – possibly leading to contributions to ISEC in 2020! We see also the potential for collaboration on research grant applications. We are anticipating that the meeting will be composed of approximately 40-50 delegates (primarily from the UK) and will replace the standard biennial NCSE (National Centre for Statistical Ecology) UK summer meeting for 2019.

The plenary speakers for the event are Simon Bonner, David Borchers, Emily Dennis, Rachel Fewster, Janine Illian, Roland Langrock, Eleni Matechou, Alison Parton.

If you would like to attend the ICMS meeting but have not submitted an abstract you can now apply for a place and poster presentation via the following form: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/8UBCM/

The closing date for applications is 30 April.
